Our gorgeous team is made up of 16 wonderful children from Reception. Our classroom is full of excitement, creativity and buckets of love!

Children in Kestrel class are curious and eager little learners who thrive in having the world at their feet. We give things a go, we laugh at ourselves and we ask questions about every last little bit of it! Above all, we are working together to be the very best little humans that we can possibly be.

Every day we have a mixture of adult led and child initiated activities, which have all been provided to allow the children to extend their individual learning.

We are so proud of our beautiful indoor and outdoor environments.

In Kestrels, we want our classroom to feel calm, welcoming and full of possibility. We believe young children learn best when they feel safe, known and valued, and when they are given time to explore, wonder, talk, create and make their own discoveries.

Our environment is carefully thought about, but never fixed. We use natural, open-ended resources and simple, beautiful spaces that invite curiosity rather than tell children exactly what to do. The children’s interests, ideas and questions help shape what happens next, and we see the classroom, outdoors and forest as equally important places for learning.

There is a strong focus on independence, relationships and belonging. We want children to feel that this is their space — somewhere they can make choices, revisit ideas, take care of things, work alongside others and feel proud of what they can do.

Above all, we want Kestrels to be a place where childhood is valued; where there is time to notice, imagine, investigate, create, talk, laugh and learn together.

Important Bits and Bobs to help it all feel easy

We enjoy spending time in our Forest School every Friday

Friday is our main PE day.

To allow us to get messy and jump in muddy puddles whenevr we like, please keep a puddle suit and wellies in school all of the time!

The childen should bring their reading folders in every day so that we can read whenever we want to read! We will collect them in on a Monday and they will have new books sent home on a Tuesday

Please make sure that your children has a water bottle in school every day.
