Peregrine Class 9th October

Date: 9th Oct 2020 @ 11:22am

Happy Friday and happy World Mental Health Day!

It was so lovely to see Peregrine class come through the door this morning in all of their lovely outfits. We spent time today thinking about the really important message behind wearing our own clothes which was to always be ourselves! We read the story 'The Hueys in the New Jumper' by Oliver Jeffers and talked about how the character tried to be different and stand out in a world where everyone was the same. We then made some amazing posters to put up around school to remind everyone to be themselves!

In maths this week, we've been learning about comparing and ordering numbers. We learnt the meaning of 'ascending order' and 'decending order' and our challenge is to remember what they mean.

In English, we've been thinking about different points of view. We discussed whether we thought the dad in our story was right to move his family to a new town with a black high school. We then wrote diary entries from the dad's perspective, remembering to use conjunctions and the correct tenses.

In science, we talked shoots, roots, leaves and flowers. We had to use observation to try to categorise different edible plants. Meanwhile, some of our broad bean plants are poking out of the top of the cups now! It's very exciting!

We had a lovely sunny PE lesson this week! We practised travelling and shooting in 4 different sports: netball, football, basketball and hockey. We were able to dribble the ball to travel in 3 of the sports but we had to use teamwork and passing skills for netball!
